Click here see what it's like being a Volunteer Firefighter. The Mulvane Fire Department was formed in the late 1800's and has been in existence ever since. The Fire Department is responsible for the City of Mulvane and a portion of Sumner County in Gore Township. FF Rick Brown FF/EMT Jimmy Reed FF Mike Woolsey Capt. Effective August 1st, 2004, the City of Mulvane has an ISO rating of 3. Sumner County Fire District #12 has an ISO rating of 8B/10. This rating ranks Mulvane Fire Department in the top 1% of communities in Kansas for fire protection services. Only one other Volunteer Fire Department in Kansas has ever achieved a Class 3 rating. There are only 4 fire departments in Kansas with a better ISO rating than Mulvane, with an ISO Class 2. There are now 24 communities with an ISO Class 3 rating out of 1,140 communities in Kansas surveyed. Three other Departments in Sedgwick County have an ISO rating of Class 3, Wichita, McConnell AFB and Sedgwick County Fire District #1. Firefighters Talon Pyeatt & Summer Guerrero donate a check for over $2,000 to the MDA at the Jerry Lewis Telethon. Mulvane's population is 5,500 and cover about 3 square miles. Sumner County Rural Fire District #12's population is about 2,100 and covers about 23 square miles. Fire Reserve Meagan Kirkman looks over material at our Annual Fire Prevention Week Open House, 2001 Mulvane Emergency Services is also under contract to serve an 8 mile stretch of the Kansas Turnpike from milepost 34 (Sedgwick/Sumner County line) to milepost 26 (Belle Plaine Service area).
